Poems for Transformation
What is really going on inside?
Kim Eichner’s experience with addiction - and a stuffed bag of life’s trials - trained her to look problems and possibilities in the eye and to name them.
In this book of poetic reflections, she colors outside the lines of everyday speech to help you cut down the bushes everyone’s trying to beat around, dig out from the corners of life’s alleys, and know you’re not alone.

Poems for Transformation
This book is not about my life experiences. It is more like an echo pinging off the framework I have honed through forty years of adult life.
At the age of 18, I began to pen the calamities and near-misses of early adulting in journals. Simultaneously, I was acquiring experience, strength, and hope in Twelve Step meetings where most others were at least fifteen years older than me. Woven into my foundation was a strong adherence to the teachings of Jesus, but the synergy of journaling and integrating the Twelve Steps was a concoction of medicine for my body, mind, and spirit.
Later—as in decades—I came to understand my writing voice has a poetic meter and style. But I’m not precious about literature or genres or the rules of writing (though I respect the craft).
My itch with words is about communication.
As I worked my way toward this book, I journaled with greater intention—as though I was raising my hand to answer the question, What is really going on inside? I learned how to dig out from the dark corners of life’s alleys. And these repeated themes emerged: hoping and dreaming, going and doing, learning and growing. You’ll find this pattern in the way the book is organized.
It has been my experience that sharing life with others is a difference maker, whether we are learning from others, supporting them, loving them, or being loved by them. I have beneftted from being with others on this forty-year journey: therapists, spiritual directors, Twelve Step sponsors, prayer partners, and friends who’ve held on for the ride. When someone is in our corner, when we feel understood by others, and when we realize we’re not terminally unique, we can rise above and jump further than we ever could alone.
